Adoption Update

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9

A well-known verse I know, but exactly what I need to be reminded of over and over. Sometimes life seems clear; cut and dry, and other times everything seems grey, fuzzy, uncertain and confusing.

But to God there is a perfect plan that He knows full well, It’s clear, detailed and proceeding just as He planned. To our human earthly minds what I’m about to say will seem crazy and unwise and wasteful, but with God, nothing is wasted when done for Him and His glory.

After talking with Rachel, there have been significant changes in her life that are making her consider adoption again. She is now about 28 weeks and there isn’t a lot of time left for us to get all the adoption paperwork ready in time for the birth. We would have to get started now and work quickly.

After much prayer, Brian and I feel like the Lord is leading us to start the paperwork and proceed with the adoption even though none of it is for certain. We know there is a chance we will lose money and time and a lot of work and effort. But if it’s God’s plan then who am I to not follow His lead. Who am I to say it is unwise? God often calls us to step out in faith, to do things that don’t make sense to our earthly minds.

Abraham stepped out in faith following what God called him to when it seemed ridiculous. Rehab protected the spies when it could have cost her, her life. Mary carried her ‘illegitimate’ baby when all those around her assumed the worst, and her walk of faith was part of God’s great plan to bring us salvation.

I’m not implying that our walk of faith is that big, but we are as certain as we can be that this is the direction that the Lord is leading our family in, whether we bring home this specific baby boy or not.

Please pray for us and walk with us during these exciting times! We are fearful and expectant, worried and hopeful. May God be glorified, even in our bumbling faith.
