Ok, so I wasn’t so excited about what the dessert chapter had to offer… but let me tell you this chapter more than makes up for it! 😉 There are some awesome ideas and recipes for drinks that would be such treats! Continue reading “Nourishing Traditions Book Review – Part XXVII: Beverages”

This past week we were at the beach and I didn’t bring a book… Well… intentionally didn’t bring a book with me… shocked? This may change that! I went with my three kids (aged 5, 3 and 1) and my sister and her “three kids” (4,2 and she is 8 months pregnant)! The hubbies had to work, so it was just the two of us with a daycare! So, needless to say I didn’t think I’d get much time to read, and I was pretty much right. Continue reading “Our Father Who Aren’t In Heaven”
Peking Duck and Hoisin Sauce
This past week was our first week of homeschooling! We had SO much fun, I feel like it was stress free and Tonchi and I (and sometimes Koa and Aisling joined in) really just had a good time together. I can say that after the first week, but I hope I can say that after the 4th week and the 44th week and the 4th year and so on! This is a new start for us and I’m super excited! So What’s Wrong with Sugar?
Last week while I was at work I was talking to a co-worker about our family’s diet changes. She had complained that she had been trying so hard to lose weight, but it just wasn’t happening. I was describing the changes we had made over the last year and mentioned that my post baby weight fell off once I committed to the changes as well! She said she knew she needed to make those choices, but wasn’t ready to commit to it yet. Continue reading “So What’s Wrong with Sugar?”
Egg McMuffin
These are Egg McMuffins that aren’t IN a muffin, but in the SHAPE of a muffin!
Genetic Roulette
This documentary, Genetic Roulette, I just finished watching today and it was excellent. Yes, it is just another documentary on GMOs, but it is very good, interesting and a great reminder to be more vigilant in avoiding them. I also felt it was more encouraging that there is hope that we can change things for ourselves and our future. So many other documentaries give the impression that the damage is done, there is no going back and there is nothing we can do about it. Continue reading “Genetic Roulette”
Nourishing Traditions Book Review – Part XXVI: Desserts
We have finally come to the chapter I’ve been anticipating most! Who doesn’t love sweets? We don’t eat many around here, but that is mostly because I don’t want to cook or bake with sugar and we don’t eat grains, so it greatly limits the options. Instructing a Child’s Heart
By Tedd & Margy Tripp
I little over a year ago I wrote a review on Shepherding a Child’s Heart which is by the same author. This book is the companion guide and is advertised as being more on the practical side of parenting… It is… slightly! Continue reading “Instructing a Child’s Heart”
Chicken Salad
Usually cooking a whole chicken is something for winter and not summer… however… northern VA weather took an unexpected turn! It was in the mid 70s in August! That NEVER happens! Since we don’t use (rarely use) the AC it was a nice change. Since it was “chilly” compared to the 90s temps we had been having I decided to have a dinner that needed cooking in the oven. Continue reading “Chicken Salad”
Constipation in Kids
This series has been prolonged and I got off topic and side tracked many times! However, I think this is the last kids and health topic that I definitely wanted to cover. However, if there is a topic that you are interested in or would like information on, please let me know and I’ll write a post about it! Continue reading “Constipation in Kids”
