Mmmm… SO SO Yummy! The first time I made this I LOVED the recipe and it turned out amazing. It was thin like cake batter when I poured it in the jar, but after it fermented and was refrigerated for about a week it was as thick as icing! And OH so tasty! It didn’t have a fermented, tangy taste, which I liked, but it also didn’t taste like regular mayonnaise. This one called for a lot of sesame oil which gave it a very strong sesame taste. We liked it, but if that isn’t a flavor you typically enjoy I’d skip this recipe and move on the second one below. I think Brian really like this version because he associates sesame oil with Asian cooking and he called it his Asian mayonnaise! Continue reading “Fermented Mayonnaise”

Granola Modifications
Yesterday was a very sad day at our house…. On to that in a minute! You’ll have to read on to eventually find out what happened! Continue reading “Granola Modifications”
Homemade, Natural, Organic Deodorant
What do you do if you have a smelly, stinky, uh well… pretty much offensive BO and it’s your own hubby?!?!?! Prior to getting married many of dear hubby’s friends warned me and said they couldn’t understand how I was going to put up with it! 😉 Continue reading “Homemade, Natural, Organic Deodorant”
Plantain Remedy
Plantain herb is usually found in most yards, but can be hard to find if you live in a neighborhood because of all the pesticides sprayed on the grass. This plant is GREAT for all kinds of natural remedies! Recently I made a tincture with plantain for my hubby. He gets poison ivy a lot because of the type of work he does and it often spreads and really is uncomfortable to him. He also gets it very easily. After hearing about this remedy from the Bulk Herb Store I decided to try it myself and it works great! It also feels nice and cool putting it on. Continue reading “Plantain Remedy”
Simple Soy Sauce Salmon
I’m all about simple and delicious these days! This recipe does take a little bit of prep work and a few steps, but it can be prepped ahead of time or during kid’s afternoon naps! This is so delish it is making my mouth water as I sit here typing about it. I’ve already made my meal plans for this week, but I might have to change them so we can have this again!
Until this year we haven’t eaten much fish because I just haven’t really known how to cook it. We didn’t eat it much growing up and I guess I’ve just learned to cook like my Mom… and have ventured out from there! She certainly gave me a good start in healthy, wholesome, cheap cooking! Venison Vindaloo
What an AWESOME dish! I just love Indian food and so does Brian. I have taken two trips to India for medical missions and the food always amazes me. It is so full of flavor, a little bit spicy and with some sort of meat, but you really weren’t sure what it was. We were always told it was chicken, but sometimes I swore the rabbit cages had one less rabbit, or maybe one less stray dog today?! Not really sure… Continue reading “Venison Vindaloo”
Coconut Flour Waffles and Strawberry Syrup
This is an amazing grain free dairy free breakfast! A downside is that it takes a lot of eggs… and an upside is that it uses so many eggs! These waffles are light and yet filling since they are high fiber and high protein. They are slightly sweet with a hint of banana. These have been a favorite of ours! Koffucha
What in the world is that? A friend of mine mentioned it to me, it sounded interesting, so I tried it! And let’s say, well, it definitely turned out very interesting!
I have a love affair with coffee and tea is only an option if coffee isn’t available. Consequently, I thought I might enjoy the Kombucha more if made out of my liquid of choice! Koffucha is Kombucha made with coffee instead of tea. It tastes a little sweet, a little tangy, a little fermented, a little like coffee and a little weird! It is a nice change, but I prefer my coffee and cream to taste like coffee and cream, so I think I’ll stick with the same old same old! Continue reading “Koffucha”
Kombucha
A while back I mentioned making Kombucha. I have made this a few times, but the flavor is a little too much like vinegar for me. I know I could brew it for a little less time to take out some of the vinegar taste, but I also want the amazing health benefits. I usually make kefir, but on occasion I do Kombucha. I kinda wax and wane on which I like most and which I’m convinced is better for me. Once I get on the band wagon of one I have it in the fridge all the time and then after a few months I switch back! Big Batch of Granola
We love granola in this house! Either for breakfast or just for a snack, or for lunch! 😉 It is QUITE popular and I feel like it’s always on my to do list to make it again! I love making my own because I can alter it however I like. You can change up the ingredients depending on what sounds good to you at that moment. This was especially helpful for when I was prego and picky! 😉
