Paleo Chocolate Milkshake

This is an old post… that never got posted.  I wrote it when I was pregnant with Avi… it’s crazy to think that was about two years ago.  When I found it this afternoon I was going to rewrite the whole thing and only keep the recipe.  But I wrote it then, and it brought back some memories that have faded.  I had forgotten that I was craving carbs with him and I didn’t remember this was a fix for me!  So I left it the way it was originally written…. read, taste and enjoy! My Yellow Drink

Lately my posts have been deeper, more philosophical and not super joyful.. Time for a bit of a change. I’m certainly not always in that frame of mind,although it does seem to be more of a new norm for me! Continue reading “My Yellow Drink”

Kombucha Part II {FAQs}

Recently we’ve shared a few of our kombucha SCOBYs and with it come 1000s of questions! Not that I don’t mind answering them.. in fact it’s quite a boost to the ego when people think you are the resident authority on something! Continue reading “Kombucha Part II {FAQs}”

Almond Milk Shakes

Thankfully it’s warming up here in the DC metro area! I LOVE summer and warm weather! I really enjoy all things summer, no school, pool time, bright sunshine, lots of outside activities, letting kids run and yell outside as much as they want, planting gardens, eating fresh produce and my list could go on forever I feel! Pumpkin Pie Icy

After naps today it was warm, a bit humid, sunny and we all needed a snack… but we all wanted a “treat” as the boys like to say.  As we were talking about what that treat might look like they were running through options that typical kids would think of, but, of which, we had none on hand.  Tonchi wanted gum or candy and Koa wanted chocolate.  Aisling would have been happy with whatever sweet she was given, grapes probably would have done it for her, but she is happy to go along with the boys… most of the time! Green Smoothies

For the longest time I thought I didn’t really like smoothies… but I actually think it was just that I didn’t like it first thing in the morning!  I REALLY like them, I’ve found out, for a mid morning snack or afternoon snack.  Especially as the days are getting warmer it’s a great afternoon refresher and snack.   Continue reading “Green Smoothies”

Chocolate Dessert Smoothie

Two nights ago all of us had finished dinner and were sitting around and wishing we had a dessert or something sweet to finish off the meal. We don’t usually have dessert; in fact, we rarely have dessert, so why we were even craving it? Continue reading “Chocolate Dessert Smoothie”

What in the world is that? A friend of mine mentioned it to me, it sounded interesting, so I tried it! And let’s say, well, it definitely turned out very interesting!

I have a love affair with coffee and tea is only an option if coffee isn’t available. Consequently, I thought I might enjoy the Kombucha more if made out of my liquid of choice! Koffucha is Kombucha made with coffee instead of tea. It tastes a little sweet, a little tangy, a little fermented, a little like coffee and a little weird! It is a nice change, but I prefer my coffee and cream to taste like coffee and cream, so I think I’ll stick with the same old same old! Continue reading “Koffucha”

A while back I mentioned making Kombucha. I have made this a few times, but the flavor is a little too much like vinegar for me. I know I could brew it for a little less time to take out some of the vinegar taste, but I also want the amazing health benefits. I usually make kefir, but on occasion I do Kombucha. I kinda wax and wane on which I like most and which I’m convinced is better for me. Once I get on the band wagon of one I have it in the fridge all the time and then after a few months I switch back!
