CSA Delivery {Week 6}

Last year I was VERY faithful about sending out a weekly email to all the CSA subscribers about what was in their box and how to use it or different recipes using their weekly ingredients.

Here we are 6 weeks in and this is the first post/email about what our boxes contain! Continue reading “CSA Delivery {Week 6}”

Kiddo Khaos

I don’t often blog this kind of stuff, but I also don’t have this much chaos in my house in one given day. There are always mishaps and frustrations and thoughtless things kids do, but these last two days are about all I can handle. I can say I’m SO glad they are all in bed and sleeping! This review is A LONG time coming! There has been a lot going on in the lives of our family  and the blog took a back seat. And in the late fall I was given this book to review. I’ve actually used it A LOT, but never had the presence of mind or the ability to write up a review. I really feel bad it took this long, but it’s getting done now! Processing LOTS of Cherries

Over two days I was GIVEN 62 lbs of cherries. 50 lbs were seconds and were small Tartarian cherries and the second batch was 12 lbs of large champagne cherries. Both tasted fantastic and were a huge treat! But to process all of these! There were certainly some late nights involved. But Brian stayed up with me and helped and it was almost like a date night! Working and chatting together… most of the time with a beer in hand! Continue reading “Processing LOTS of Cherries”

Happy Birthday America

I can easily grow accustom to this ole land and take for granted the freedom I have and it’s great cost.  There is really something special about seeing our grand ole flag and hearing the Star Spangled Banner. Pride and love swells in my heart for this land and it’s people. I’m forever grateful for the life God has given me and the land in which I live!  There are few days that I think about how blessed I am and this is one of those days.  It isn’t often enough that I stop and look at what I have and see what others don’t have all around the world and bow my knee and thank God for his goodness to me. Continue reading “Happy Birthday America”

Rendering Lard

Lard!!! LARD!!! You may say… that’s what most people say when they hear we cook with lard. “Don’t you know that stuff ‘ll kill ya’!” “That’s what my mama cooked with back in the day.” “Your a nurse and you use saturated fats?” Continue reading “Rendering Lard”

Return

Well, I think it may be about time to return… but slowly it will be, I’m sure. Life feels somewhat back to normal, although what is normal now? Normal will now be different for the rest of my life. Normal will still include the loss of my baby boy and a day doesn’t go by that I don’t think about him. Continue reading “Return”

A Glorious Easter to You!

I originally intended to post this on Easter Sunday and then completely forgot.  It was written and ready to post…  I didn’t want to scrap it and thought it was still good to share; even though it is quite a bit after Easter.

It’s so easy to get caught up in the here and now;  To be overwhelmed or underwhelmed with life and all it has to offer or all it has to loose.  Life is hard and it can seem like a dark and hopeless place, full of sorrow, trial, difficulty and work.  And I’m sorry to say… but it is.  However,… if we didn’t have hard times, if we didn’t have loss, if we didn’t have sorrow, if we didn’t have needs why would we need a Savior.  This world would be the best place there is, utopia, and there wouldn’t be a need for anything better. Continue reading “A Glorious Easter to You!”

A Temporary Pause

It has been a few weeks since I’ve posted and blogging at the moment has not been much in my thoughts during that time. I actually forgot about it for a bit. That said, my heart really isn’t in it’s usual place. What I find fascinating and excited to share with you isn’t as exciting at the moment. Continue reading “A Temporary Pause”
