This morning the boys wanted to play with playdough, but they quickly became bored with what they had! I decided to make them some new colors and they LOVED it! I also love it because I know what ingredients are in it and I know Koa is going to try and eat some of it! Don’t all kids do that? Or is it just mine! Continue reading “Make your own Playdough!”

Coconut Bread
We love bread! And we miss bread! Because Brian isn’t supposed to be having grains I’ve been trying to remove it from most of what we eat on a daily basis. I didn’t realize how much grain, starches, and sugars we eat until I started removing it. We didn’t regularly have desserts, I don’t buy sugary cereals or snacks, never buy cookies, so it should be easy right? Nope… try again! Continue reading “Coconut Bread”
A MUST see – Virginia Bluebells
If you live in northern Virginia, you have to go see the bluebells at Bull Run Regional Park. They are absolutely beautiful and SO breath taking. Now is about the peak time to see them. My mom and I went today with the kidos and we had a great time. The ground is carpeted with them and the fragrance in the air is clean, fresh and so sweet! When you think there can’t be more, you round the bend of the trail and there are more than you could ever imagine, stretching as far as you can see! A Sweet and Bitter Providence

This was a great read. Especially if you feel like you’ve got the rotten deal in life at this point in time. The book is well written and an easy read! Piper goes step by step through the biblical story of Ruth and Naomi talking about how it seems like they have been dealt a very bitter providence, but how God in His amazing grace turns it all around into a very sweet redemption. Indonesian Beef Curry with Coconut Rice
Brian has been asking for this recipe for the last week or two and I finally got around to making it. It really turned out well even though he isn’t really supposed to have much rice. He did eat a small serving of the rice and had a lot more of the meat… just so that he could get his rice fix! Continue reading “Indonesian Beef Curry with Coconut Rice”
Family cloth
Some may think it gross, but it actually works very well for our family! So what is it you say!?!?! An alternative to toilet paper! I use it exclusively, but the rest of the family, sparingly. However, I’m the only female (except for baby Aisling who is only 8 weeks so she only uses the cloth wipes!), so I obviously I would be the greatest offender! Continue reading “Family cloth”
Oatmeal Bake
The following recipes are different variations of the same thing depending on your diet. I’ve posted the three options and how to change them so that more may benefit! 😉 This is a fantastic breakfast and holds little tummies all the way to lunchtime!… and mine too! Continue reading “Oatmeal Bake”
Cloth Diapering 101
So…Diapers…. This is a topic near and dear to my heart for multiple reasons. I LOVE the fact that I just have to throw diapers in the laundry instead of running to Wal-Mart when I run out of clean ones to use. So much easier than running out at 10pm at night! I also really like the fact that we have much less diaper rash to deal with. I currently have an 8 week old and we are fighting diaper rash with her. I have been using disposable at night because she has been leaking through the current cloth diapers we have. I have been too lazy to wake up half way through the night just to change a diaper. Since we are co-sleeping I have but to roll over to nurse. Most amazing set-up in the world! Her rash completely clears up when I have her in 100% cloth. I just need to get back on my game! This is a great story about a little girl who has a close relationship with her grandfather. They explore and enjoy nature together and start to comprend and cope with death. In the end the little girl says thank you and good bye to her grandfather. This book made me cry as I thought of my own grandfather and my close relationship with him. Both of my boys were looking at me and asking why I was crying. Not much makes me cry, but this book was especially touching. This would be a great book to help kids cope and accept the dealth of a loved one, especially a grandfather.
I wasn’t planning on posting anything about kids books, but this one was so touching and I want to remember it for when we may need it in the future.
Banana Boats
I think this blog will quickly be a lot about food. That is our lives these days! A few weeks before Thanksgiving, last year, Brian was told that he was intolerant to corn, soy, dairy and gluten and he should also not be eating any grains or sugars. He has had a history of high cholesterol and triglycerides since before we got married. Since he is adopted we don’t know any of his family history so therefore don’t really know if this is genetic or not. Since we got married in 2005 we have eaten pretty healthy compared to mainstream Americans, but for him that hasn’t been enough. We have since changed our diet significantly and you will be able to enjoy some of the recipes we have worked so hard to modify for him to enjoy as well. The kids and I still eat dairy and grains, but I’m trying to make healthier choices there as well. Continue reading “Banana Boats”
