Popcorn

Many of my friends know of our Sunday tradition… it’s a day of rest and I really LOVE how the pioneers really took that literally and didn’t cook, wash, or do any work of any kind! Now I do think it kinda went to the extreme, but I also think we do not take it seriously and don’t truly rest on the day of rest! I’ve certainly been known to throw in a load of laundry on Sundays. Char Siu (Roasted Chinese BBQ Pork) and Cucumber Salad

It’s been a while since I’ve posted any recipes for dinner that are super fantastic.  I’ve posted other food stuffs, but no new dinner ideas.  I have made a few, but nothing worthy of posting here.  I’ve been less than inspired lately and have resorted to some older recipes and haven’t been ultra motivated to come up with something new or alter something inspiring. Safely Home
Randy Alcorn

Getting a slow start on my reading list so far this year… but nonetheless here is my first completed book. I can’t recommend this one highly enough. It really was fantastic. Not only was it a good story, but it also was convicting. It made me think about my life and contemplate the way I was living and if that was truly what God wants from me. Hoisin Sauce

This is a short and sweet post, and the product is certainly that!!! Sweet! I don’t usually have hoisin sauce on hand, just because I don’t take the time to mix it up, but it is so good and is a super huge hit in this fam. Continue reading “Hoisin Sauce”

Documentary: Under Our Skin

I’ve had this film cross my radar for the past few years, but have never taken the time to view it. I have a few friends who have been battling with chronic lymes disease and to see what effects it has on their lives is so sad. They truly suffer and so many people write them off as having psychological issues. I’m so glad this video brings some hope into their world. Continue reading “Documentary: Under Our Skin”

Sausage Stroganoff

This dish has long been a favorite of mine, but was no where near paleo with lots of butter, cream, noodles, and other no nos! I’ve not only paleoized this classic dish and I must say the results were fantastic! Continue reading “Sausage Stroganoff”

2014 Item Purge

This is a lofty goal for sure, but it feels so good to get rid of things and simplify life. Even though I don’t feel like we buy much, I still feel like we accumulate a lot from clothing swaps, gifts, hand-me-downs, etc. Therefore we have a lot that can be repurposed, regifted, thrifted, given away, sold or simply thrown away. Continue reading “2014 Item Purge”

Parental Rights Amendment

I was reading a notice sent out by HSLDA about the increasing loss of parental rights and how easily our children can be removed from our homes.  It is so sad to see that it doesn’t take much.  Just a neighbor, in some cases stating that “the parents are involved in questionable activities” is enough.  No proof there is any harm to the children, nothing illegal, no neglect, nothing… Continue reading “Parental Rights Amendment”

Goals for 2014

Here is our new set of goals for the year… I guess they are really my goals, but some of them entail Brian too! I don’t have much to say about them in particular except that I’m excited to work on these things! Each one of them is special and will enrich our lives; me and that of my kids and husband. Continue reading “Goals for 2014”

Making and Canning Apple Butter

It has taken me way too long to get my act together and get this posted and now we are way outside of apple season. However, I’m going to post it anyway and hopefully you will be able to use it as a resource once we return to apple season later this year! Continue reading “Making and Canning Apple Butter”
