Venison Vindaloo

What an AWESOME dish! I just love Indian food and so does Brian. I have taken two trips to India for medical missions and the food always amazes me. It is so full of flavor, a little bit spicy and with some sort of meat, but you really weren’t sure what it was. We were always told it was chicken, but sometimes I swore the rabbit cages had one less rabbit, or maybe one less stray dog today?! Not really sure… Continue reading “Venison Vindaloo”

Lacto-Fermented Foods

I’m relatively new to lacto-fermenting, but I’m enthralled and sold all at the same time! Our ancesters of the past fermented many types of food to help with preservation, but little did they know that the health benefits were many! The more I learn about fermenting the more I’m convinced that it will benefit me and my family! Continue reading “Lacto-Fermented Foods”

The Jew Store

By, Stella Suberman

I guess that not every book can be a fantastic read! Of course I had to finish it. I just can’t stop a book in the middle unless it is absolutely terrible. So, I read to the end and it was interesting as far as an autobiography goes, but wasn’t captivating. I didn’t enjoy the style of penmanship very much either. Maybe it was just a little harder to read than what I’m used to or maybe it was something else, but I had a hard time making time to sit down and read it. Continue reading “The Jew Store”

Coconut Flour Waffles and Strawberry Syrup

This is an amazing grain free dairy free breakfast! A downside is that it takes a lot of eggs… and an upside is that it uses so many eggs! These waffles are light and yet filling since they are high fiber and high protein. They are slightly sweet with a hint of banana. These have been a favorite of ours! Koffucha

What in the world is that? A friend of mine mentioned it to me, it sounded interesting, so I tried it! And let’s say, well, it definitely turned out very interesting!

I have a love affair with coffee and tea is only an option if coffee isn’t available. Consequently, I thought I might enjoy the Kombucha more if made out of my liquid of choice! Koffucha is Kombucha made with coffee instead of tea. It tastes a little sweet, a little tangy, a little fermented, a little like coffee and a little weird! It is a nice change, but I prefer my coffee and cream to taste like coffee and cream, so I think I’ll stick with the same old same old! Continue reading “Koffucha”

A Great Snack: Homemade Gluten Free Crackers and Yogurt Cheese

With hubby’s new diet I’ve really missed snack foods, especially crunchy things! And no, carrot sticks don’t cut it.  I have found this recipe and it’s been a huge hit and it totally satisfies my need!  Also since these crackers are made out of egg and nuts they are quite filling, so you really don’t feel the need to eat a lot of them and consequently they last longer!  I’m not able to blow through them all in one sitting unlike a box of crackers! Continue reading “A Great Snack: Homemade Gluten Free Crackers and Yogurt Cheese”

Kombucha

A while back I mentioned making Kombucha. I have made this a few times, but the flavor is a little too much like vinegar for me. I know I could brew it for a little less time to take out some of the vinegar taste, but I also want the amazing health benefits. I usually make kefir, but on occasion I do Kombucha. I kinda wax and wane on which I like most and which I’m convinced is better for me. Once I get on the band wagon of one I have it in the fridge all the time and then after a few months I switch back! Grass Fed on the Hill – Raw Milk Freedom Rally

I wouldn’t say that I’m a mover and a shaker or that I’m a big rally goer. I was really debating Sunday evening whether we were going to trek into DC or not. I knew the weather was a little iffy, and I wasn’t sure I had the energy to bring three kidos under 3 ½ via metro into the city for the day with a chance of rain in the forecast. I was pretty close to deciding I was going to stay home when I realized that I often resort to the easy and try to avoid rocking the ship. I often want others to fight my battles for me. I’d rather not be seen as the odd ball out or the one standing in the gap. I felt convicted that if I’m going to complain about what is happening to this farmer, Dan Alger, and I want to continue to purchase my raw milk, then I needed to do something about it. So we went! Big Batch of Granola

We love granola in this house! Either for breakfast or just for a snack, or for lunch! 😉 It is QUITE popular and I feel like it’s always on my to do list to make it again! I love making my own because I can alter it however I like. You can change up the ingredients depending on what sounds good to you at that moment. This was especially helpful for when I was prego and picky! 😉

Amazon Tutorial

I really debated about posting anything about Amazon, afraid that it would appear to be an advertisement. I will be honest and say that anytime you go to the Amazon site through a link on my blog I do earn a commission on what you purchase. I say that as a disclaimer, not as an advertisement and also as a way for you to help my support my family!
